Kim Novick

My passion for herbal medicine stems from a deep relationship with nature and respect for the lessons it has to offer. I am devoted to the health and wellness of our small family farm that has taught me valuable lessons in balance, understanding seasons (of our earth and our bodies), cultivating a healthy microbiome (in our soil and our gut), and above all knowing the fragility of our ecosystem both on earth and in our bodies.

As a breast cancer thriver (I prefer this term to survivor), I am cancer free and grateful to have weathered that storm with utilizing western treatments balanced with herbal medicine. As the Buddhist teaching goes, “not all storms come to disrupt your life, some come to clear your path.” This in fact is how I found my way to becoming an herbalist.

It’s with education and lived experience that I now practice herbal medicine to support those who are looking to balance modern allopathic medicine with herbal support, have tried other modalities that have either failed or want to learn about how you can feel your best using our plant allies.

Did you know…

Just as a garden depends on nutrient-rich soil filled with minerals to produce healthy fruits and vegetables, our bodies rely on essential minerals to build and maintain strong, healthy bones. Many nourishing herbs are naturally rich in minerals that support bone health and overall vitality. Herbs such as nettle, dandelion, horsetail, and alfalfa have long been valued for their mineral content, providing a gentle and natural way to help replenish and support the body’s nutritional needs.

Rather than treating symptoms in isolation, as an herbalist, I work to identify underlying factors that may be placing stress on one system and, in turn, affecting others. Through careful assessment, we develop individualized strategies that support your body’s innate regulatory and healing processes.

Founded by Kim Novick, an herbalist and longtime yoga practitioner, Kimari Wellness integrates Western herbal medicine, nutrition, and breath-centered practices to support sustainable well-being.

Kim trained in Western herbal medicine at the Berkeley Herbal Center in Berkeley, California, where she deepened her understanding of plant-based healing and its role in supporting vitality and balance. She continued her clinical work under the training and mentorship of master English Herbalist, Paula Grainger. Kim’s approach to herbalism is both traditional and practical—grounded in the belief that nature offers powerful tools for everyday health.

Before stepping into herbal medicine, Kim spent 25 years working in the nonprofit sector, supporting environmental initiatives, ocean stewardship, and youth programs rooted in surf and skate culture. This chapter of her life continues to inform her work today, reflecting a deep respect for the natural world and a commitment to community care.

With over 35 years of dedicated Ashtanga yoga practice, Kim comes from a strong lineage that honors the depth and discipline of the tradition. She completed her teacher training with Tim Miller in 2001 and Diana Christianson in 2017 and 2023 and has been teaching yoga and breath work for more than 20 years. Her teaching emphasizes ritual, tradition, self-study and creating space for students to build a meaningful and sustainable practice for life.

Breathwork is a central thread throughout her offerings. Kim incorporates pranayama and conscious breathing techniques as foundational tools for regulating the nervous system, enhancing clarity, cultivating resilience and a peaceful heart.

Kimari Wellness reflects the natural evolution of Kim’s life’s work—where yoga, breath, nutrition, and herbal medicine come together as a cohesive path toward vibrant health.

what other people say...

After several weeks of debilitating discomfort in my pelvic area and dead ends with my PCP, OBGYN, and Urologist, I followed my instincts and reached out to Kim to see if she had a remedy that could cure me. Alas, she did! First, she told me I wasn’t crazy and that my symptoms were typical of menopausal women. Her words of comfort and knowledge of my condition brought intense relief. Not only did she have the remedy, she made sure I received the herbs asap. Kim is knowledgeable, attentive, and deeply empathetic. I have continued to follow up with Kim for acute sinus pain, and I take her immunity tea and homemade elderberry syrup daily. Having Kim on my care-team has dramatically changed my health for the better.
